The Fundação Bienal de São Paulo invites media professionals to the press conference for the 36th Bienal de São Paulo – Not All Travellers Walk Roads – Of Humanity as Practice, which will take place on September 4, from 9am to 10:30am, at the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion in São Paulo. Accreditation will be open exclusively to media professionals, with entry permitted from 8am to 9am. After the press conference, accredited journalists may visit the exhibition until 4pm, with exclusive access to the Pavilion. To request accreditation, please fill out the form here.

On September 5, from 10am to 6pm, the preview will take place for invited guests and accredited professionals from the art field. All cultural sector agents are welcome, including artists, educators, collectors, curators, producers, and other art workers. To register for this accreditation category, access the form here.

Conceptualised by Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung – alongside co-curators Alya Sebti, Anna Roberta Goetz, Thiago de Paula Souza, co-curator at large Keyna Eleison, and communications and strategy advisor Henriette Gallus – the 36th Bienal is inspired by the poem “Da calma e do silêncio” [Of Calm and Silence] by poet Conceição Evaristo. It is founded on active listening to humanity as a practice of constant displacement, encounter, and negotiation. The 36th Bienal will take place from September 6 2025 to January 11 2026, with free admission.

The griot artist who converses with ancestrality: an interview with Sérgio Soarez

Through assemblage, Sérgio Soarez brings together iron objects — such as keys, knives, drill bits, pliers and tools – and wooden objects – such as blocks, rocaille, simple planks and ornaments – to coexist, combining different lives, times and uses, the traces of which are etched into their forms. His works are now part of the travelling exhibition of the 36th Bienal in Brasília. Read the artist’s statement below.

Ao lado direito, um homem branco está com o braço apoiado no guarda-corpo, mais sério, com cabelos raspados, usando um terno escuro com detalhe em vermelho. O prédio atrás é branco e possui curvas sinuosas.
