Varanda Bienal – Mahmundi – Amor Fati
At the age of 36, raised in Marechal Hermes, in the northern zone of Rio, but settled in São Paulo four months ago – “in her third season” in the city – Mahmundi sings lightly about love, disaffection and some of the intersections between these two territories.
She reaches the fourth album of her career with Amor Fati, an expression used by Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), meaning “love of fate”, conceptualising an integral acceptance of life in all its aspects, good or bad; an embrace of what life offers us and also of what it deprives us of or takes away from us.
Mahmundi performs on the last day of the 35th Bienal de São Paulo, closing the public programme on Varanda Bienal.
