Autobiographic book by the writer and abolitionist Frederick Douglass

To spread his story and fight for the abolitionist cause, in 1846, Frederick Douglass wrote and published his first autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. In this first book, Douglass provides graphic descriptions of his childhood and experiences as a slaved man as well as a harrowing record of his escape to the North and the conquest of his freedom. Read here.
