Vote! Performance

Part of Vote!, the project elaborated by Ana Lira for the #31Bienal, a performance involving the distribution of campaign fliers [santinhos] featuring the artist’s own works will take place this Saturday (September 27): ‘Using a form of propaganda that’s really common during election campaigns, a way of making voters remember the candidates, the idea behind these “santinhos” is to promote discussion about memory and the deterioration of the political scene that has caused this crisis of representation. What do we really remember at the moment we cast our vote?’

In partnership with the Educativo Bienal, a group of educators will accompany the artist and help with the distribution of the santinhos and visitor interaction inside and outside the pavilion.

The performance starts in the Bienal Park area on the ground floor at 2:30pm.

Brasilidades: interview with Moisés Patrício

Hybrid concrete and clay sculptures comprise Brasilidades [Braziliannesses], a work presented by Moisés Patrício at the 36th Bienal de São Paulo. In it, concrete cubes reminiscent of brutalist constructivism engulf ceramic candomblé objects (basins, small bowls, and clay vases). The work is now part of the Bienal’s itinerant exhibition in Rio de Janeiro. Read the artist’s statement below.
