On 14 October, at 3pm, the panel Tortilleras 2 – lesbo-poetic convergences will take place at Sauna Lésbica, with Formigão and Elizabeth Mennezes, mediated by Bárbara Esmenia.
A project created by Bárbara Esmenia that seeks to promote the presence and dissemination of works by Brazilian writers and singers in conjunction with other writers and singers from other parts of Abya Yala (Latin America). Created with the aim of expanding the knowledge of lesbian poets and singers from this territory, Tortilleras brings together convergences and divergences in the artists’ works. In this edition, Formigão will dialogue with the work of Val Flores (Argentina) and Elizabeth Mennezes with the work of Chavela Vargas (Costa Rica/Mexico).
aka Formigão, an oniriko sapatão (he/him) from ZS – SP. Poet and fanzine writer for Edições Formigueiro. Organiser of the soiree Fetiche ou poema? Author of the book Afro Latina (padê editorial).
Elizabeth Mennezes sings, composes, arranges and plays various instruments. From Ubatuba, on the north coast of São Paulo, her references include samba-jazz, jazz and bossa, which are always thought of as a bed for the percussive touches of Terreiro, a miscellany that, in turn, comes from the same place: black song and black touch. Elizabeth sees her singing and writing in this way, composed together with her vulnerabilities and ancestry, something that splashes and protects. She currently dedicates herself to producing her own songs, singing lessons, musical direction for artists and architecture.
Bárbara Esmenia is a writer, playwright and joker at Theatre of the Oppressed. She is one of the artists in this edition of Sauna Lésbica [Lesbian Sauna] (2023).
Sauna Lésbica is a collective movement for the celebration of Black lesbian and sapatão affectivities and a pleasurable, safe, and provocative space for experiencing politics, the spiritual and the profane, for loving and welcoming.
