Steam of ideas – Sauna Lésbica in conversation with Jurema/Nicinha, mediation by Beth Beli

On September 9, Saturday, at 3:30 pm, a conversation between Sauna Lésbica, Jurema and Nicinha will take place at the Lounge Bienal, as a part of Vapor de Ideias [Steam of ideas].

In this meeting, we will hear the story of Nicinha and Jurema, two black, lesbian, and peripheral women who have been married for over forty years. Their love story was portrayed in the documentary series Meu amor – Seis histórias de amor verdadeiro [My Love – Six stories of true love].

Elisabeth Belisario/Beth Beli is a musical director. She has been presiding over and conducting Bloco Ilú Obá De Min for more than 18 years, with more than 400 women in her ranks. She began her career at the age of 17 and is now 55. Luckily, she has also had the pleasure of working with Elza Soares, Lia de Itamaracá and Nega Duda, her godmother.

Sauna Lésbica is a collective movement for the celebration of Black lesbian and sapatão affectivities and a pleasurable, safe, and provocative space for experiencing politics, the spiritual and the profane, for loving and welcoming.
